KARSH opening night at Pikto

With over 250 people attending, the opening of Yousuf Karsh's exhibit was one of the highlights of the year at the Pikto Gallery. The vintage prints on display include portraits of luminaries of the film industry such as Ingrid Bergman, Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant. On the second floor and along the columns we also have some iconic Karsh images, including additional takes of a famous Churchill photo, when the young photographer brazenly took away his cigar and captured his defiant look.
The show features decades of work, including large colour prints of both Pope John Paul at the Vatican and Carleton Heston in a bathrobe. A larger than life print of Nikita Khrushchev, a visionary photo of Ernest Hemingway and a gorgeous Sophia Loren are just some of the images that highlight Karsh's brilliant career.
Thanks to everyone who attended and all your great feedback on the show, and we hope to see you again on the next gallery opening on November 13th, 2009.
Show runs until November 6. 2009
